Rangers have been drawn to face Sporting Lisbon in the quarter-finals of the Uefa Cup

Rangers will meet Sporting Lisbon in the quarter-finals of the Uefa Cup after the draw was made in Nyon this afternoon.

The only British team left in the competition will play the first leg at Ibrox against the conquerors of Bolton Wanderers and will face either Fiorentina or PSV Eindhoven in the semi-finals, should they overcome Paulo Bentos's side.

The leaders of the Scottish Premier League will have been relieved to have avoided 1967 winners and three-time European champions Bayern Munich, who were drawn at home against unfancied Getafe in the last eight.

Article continues
Bayern, the Bundesliga leaders, may well be involved in an all-German semi-final as they stand to face the winners of Bayer Leverkusen or Zenit St Petersburg should they reach the last-four stage.

Fiorentina, who beat Everton on penalties, play host to PSV, who also defeated Premier League opposition in a first-leg shoot-out against Tottenham Hotspur this week.

The Uefa Cup quarter-final first legs will take place on April 3 with the return matches to be played a week later.

The quarter-final draw

Bayer Leverkusen v Zenit St Petersburg
Rangers v Sporting Lisbon
Bayern Munich v Getafe
Fiorentina v PSV
(Teams listed first will play first game at home, ties to be played 3 April and 10 April)

The semi-final draw

Bayern Munich /Getafe v Bayer Leverkusen/Zenit St Petersburg
Rangers/Sporting Lisbon v Fiorentina/PSV
(Teams listed first will play first game at home, ties to be played 24 April and 1 May)

Think this has given us our best chance to progress because i cant see them beating us over 2 legs.

I was there when we beat them in newcastle in a pre season tourny a few seasons back.

Think a semi final appearance may be on!.

I totally agree with you mate, I watched both of their ties against Bolton and to be honest I didn't think they played well.

I can also see Rangers doing this
