Standard meet a Liverpool side eager to prove that they have still got it on a European stage in one of the more intriguing ties of the round.
The Reds are hot favourites, but the Rouches, Belgian champions, will play under little pressure following what was a fantastic season at the Maurice Dufrasne. Liverpool fell at the semi-final stage last season, while Standard lost out in the first round of the UEFA Cup. Steve McClaren faces his first real test as Twente boss as highly-fancied Arsenal journey to Enschede. The east Dutch side are no strangers to the UEFA Cup, having played in Europe's silver competition on several occasions (most recently last season), but this is a whole new adventure for the Tukkers. The Gunners, meanwhile, were eliminated last season by eventual finalists and heated rivals Chelsea, but coach Arsène Wenger is confident that his squad is strong enough to go the distance this time. Arsenal have only twice had to play in Q3 and on each occasion - against Dinamo Zagreb and Sparta Prague - they have prevailed with relative ease. ____________ The article is wrong about Arsenal there, considering we knocked them out but anyway I expect both of us to win but I doubt either of us willmake an easy job of it. I'm hoping, (Sort of) that Twente knock Arsenal out, having said that, that would allow them to focus a lot more on domestic competitions. I hope we line-up like this. ------------------Reina---------------- Arbeloa------Carra-------Agger----Dossena -------------Plessis------Alonso-------- Kuyt-----------------------------Benayoun -------------Keane-------Torres---------- Gerrard and Skrtel being both slightly injured. 5.05AM Setanta Sports - ahhh..... heaven at last.

On paper both teams should qualify, but we all know things dont allways go according to plan.
My only fear this season is that our squad is not strong enough in depth, and if we do progress to the later stages of the competition and we are doing well in the league, we might find it hard if we have injuries etc. I would of liked to see a BIG name player or 2 arrive this season. As for Liverpool, Robbie keane is a good striker but not the type of player i would of thought they would buy? Best of luck to both teams |

Would be hilarious if they did, it would be Chelsea v Barnsley all over again.

liverpool, were lucky but should wrap it up at home. we gave ourselves some breathing room with an ugly win but a win nonetheless,i thought there were a few positives.but some glaring negatives. we need a centre back and a beast in the midfield (a la viera)
thought theo had a good game though espn commentary team rode him all game as if he should be the 2nd coming of henry.perfect cross for adebayor`s goal, worked hard until he was replaced, also the mind boggles over how good ramsey will one day be
