This was our first match in the championship for 24 years and we didnt embarress ourselves, the travellin 3300 fans from south wales made everyone stand up and listen to our magnificent support for the lads. Charlton came out the better sides in the first 5 minutes, they took the lead after swansea captain gary monk kicked the ball out for a corner from the grasp of dorus de vries. The addicks made us of some slack defending and Mark Hudson headed in the first goal. The Swans then took control, starting to move the ball quickly in midfield to the wingers Butler and Gower. The first chance for the Swans came from good work down the right from gower cutting in from the right to lay off Bauza whos shot was turned away for a corner. Charlton were'nt creating anything the Swans were on top now and were creating chances for fun, moving the ball quickly down the right again, Gower was causing Youla plenty of problems, he went passed him put the cross in for bauza to get a shot in which was again turned away for a corner. More chances were to come from Butler and pratley but again the charlton keeper was equal to both attempts. Charlton were now trying to come forward on the counter and were always trying to over do the final pass with most of them running straight through to the swansea keeper.
Second Half: The second half started as the first half had ended, Swansea now playin towards the travelling fans were coming forward from the off. A nice link up play rom bodde pratley sent out to mark gower now on the left, he cut inside to lay off Bauza who shot just wide from the edge of the box. Now the Swans were in full control of the match, pratley and bodde combined again with a one to on the edge of the box for pratley to slot the ball in, only for the offside flag to go up. Bodde and Pratley were now running the show in the central midfield, Pratley picked the ball up from midfield sending it out wide to Butler who then cut inside to have to shot wide. Then came the changing point in the match, Gary Monk who had earlier been booked went into a 50-50 challenge and the charlton player came out worst, the ref then gave the swansea skipper a second yellow and a red. The match however didnt change, charlton were creating corners but no chances, and Swansea were still coming forward with the football that won them the league one title last season. Scotland who had just come on for Gower, cut inside from the left went past hudson only to shoot wide. Another chance came swansea's way minutes later, bodde and pratley combined with britton who then played scotland through who's shot was again saved by the charlton keeper. For all the possesion and chances wasted it was always going to happen, charlton won a (dubious) free kick onthe touchline, holland put the ball in the box and Gray got in front of the slack swansea marking to put the addicks 2-0 up. The swans kicked off again and came straight back, Gomez was brought down on the edge of the box and he took the free kick which was saved by weaver the charlton keeper. That was to be the last action of the game and the result on paper looks more comfortable than it looks Mangers Reaction: Charlton manager Alan Pardew: "We had our set pieces running in the dressing room today because we felt they were that important and we threatened on almost every one. "We needed Matt Holland at that stage (1-0 up). He came on and did what he does and his experience got us to the victory. "They really passed the ball well and at times they embarrassed us." Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez: "The goals we conceded were not good enough from our point of view. They were soft. "We wouldn't have won the Championship last season if we had defended like that. "But there are more positives than negatives. The second yellow card (on Garry Monk) was a bad decision."

Great right-up mate, sounded like a really good game. Do you think Martinez may get in trouble for critisizing the ref?

Nice one Dean, good video too.
Makes me slightly sick to think that Charlton have moved on so far, it wasn't long ago that I went to places like Charlton, Portsmouth and Middlesbrough with Southend Great support you took there, who you got next? Oh before I forget, how did Gower play, do that fans like him?
