Default Saturday's Blue Square North Wrap

With Blue Square North Leaders Kettering Town not in action until Sunday, both AFC Telford and Stalybridge Celtic took the opportunity to close the gap at the top.

AFC Telford 1-0 Redditch

AFC Telford needed a last-gasp winner at their New Bucks Head Stadium to overcome a resolute Redditch outfit in an entertaining Blue Square North match on Saturday.

Stephen Jagielka popped up with an injury time winner with the tie seemingly set to peter out to send the home fans into raptures as they claimed the points.

Southport 2-3 Stalybridge

Stalybridge edged out fellow play-off contenders Southport at Haig Avenue to strengthen their campaign for Blue Square North promotion.

Oliver James put the hosts ahead in the 13th minute and it took Celtic 40 minutes to cancel out the strike.

Ashley Winn levelled the scores in the 53rd minute, before Alex Meechan fired the visitors in front two minutes later.

Paul Sykes struck in the 63rd minute and the Sandgrounders looked a defeated side.

They were handed a lifeline in the 75th minute when referee Bond pointed to the spot. Tony Gray coolly finished, but the hosts could not muster up another successful attack.

Solihull 3-1 Harrogate Town

Solihull pulled off a fantastic result in their Blue Square North encounter against Harrogate Town as they came from a goal down to win 3-1 and further claw themselves away from the relegation zone.

Town's Lee Whittington got the day's proceedings underway with his effort on 67 minutes, but the response was immediate with Tim Gould on target with a 71st minutes equaliser before Daniel Davidson stunned fans with his 83rd minute goal to take the lead.

Darren Middleton's 86th minute penalty secured the three points and was a fine ending to a memorable day.

Nuneaton Borough 0-0 Barrow

Nuneaton dropped two valuable points at home as they were held to a goalless draw against Barrow in a rough encounter at Manor Park.

Nuneaton missed a host of chances and the opportunity to edge further up the table and now have a number of clubs breathing down their necks in search of a play-off spot.

Boston United 0-1 Burscough

Burscough created further excitement for their fans after a come from behind win during the week as they beat Boston United at the The Staffsmart Stadium this Blue Square Saturday.

Keeping up their impressive away form, Burscough put in a solid performance with Robbie Booth the hero of the day with his ninth minute winner.

Worcester City 3-3 Tamworth

Worcester staged a sensational comeback after going three goals down to share the Blue Square North spoils with Tamworth at St George's Lane.

The visitors were on fire early on and took the lead through Jake Sheridan in the 9th minute.

The striker added a second a minute later and the hosts seemed to have no reply to the early onslaught. On the 68th minute mark, referee Nick Hobbis pointed to the spot and Colin Marrison duly stuck away his spot-kick for the hosts.

City looked well beaten, but an inspired brace from Ryan Clarke in the last ten minutes sparked the home side's revival.

Troy Wood followed up Clarke's 80th and 90th minute strikes by netting City's third in the 90th.

Tamworth had to settle for a point, but manager Gary Mills will not be impressed with his charges.

Vauxhall Motors 0-3 Gainsborough

Basement battlers Vauxhall Motors received no help from Gainsborough Trinity in their fight to stay afloat in the Blue Square North as they were routed at Rivacre Park.

It was a damaging result for the hosts as fellow relegation strugglers Hucknall and Hinckley notched up vital points in their clashes.

Ryan Mallon gave Trinity the lead in the 34th minute, before Chris Hall added to the Motormen's woes in the 37th minute. On the 44th minute mark, Mallon netted his brace and capped off a wonderful night for the visitors.

Workington 1-1 Hinckley

Relegation battlers Hinckley fought hard to earn a vital point in their bid to avoid the drop against Workington at Borough Park.

Leon Jackson opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time for the visitors and it seemed destined United would walk away with all three points.

But a late show from the hosts produced an 85th minute equaliser courtesy of Michael Reed. The Reds continued to pressure the Knitters goal, but Hinckley defended well to salvage a point.

Blyth Spartans 1-2 Hucknall

Hucknall recorded a vital win over fellow relegation candidates Blyth Spartans to pull them out of the dreaded bottom three places by virtue of goal-difference.

Peter Knox lived up to his managers billing as a natural goalscorer, 'able to score goals wherever he has been', by grabbing both his side's goals in the 25th and 32nd minutes respectively.

Blyth weren't able to respond until the 82nd minute when Ben Christiansen scored what turned out to be no more than a consolation goal.

Leigh RMI 1-0 Alfreton Town

Steve Bleasdale got his preparation and tactics spot on as he engineered the Blue Square North's bottom side 1-0 win over Alfreton Town at Hilton Park on Saturday.

The Railwaymen closed the gap at to just six points with Bradley Maylett grabbed the only goal on 75 minutes as they attempt to take their fate into their own hands.
