Default Rivalry SAFC/NUFC & MFC

As a sunderland fan I know the sunderland newcastle rivalry is very big to us and very important to both sets of fans, but, alot of sunderland (and newcastle) fans say there is no rivalry with other north east neighbours Middlesbrough. However I have looked on a couple of sunderland sites and most sunderland fans hate Middlesbrough (in their top 5 most hated). This tells me that there has to be a rivalry between all three of the north east teams although Sunderland (or Newcastle)/Middlesbrough is no where near as big as the sunderland/ newcastle rivalry.

I'm just curious to see of you guys think there is a rivalry with sunderland (or newcastle) and Middlesbrough

In my perosnal opinion, yes there is. They are local rivals to us and we like to beat them almost as much as newcastle, however my brother and most of my work colleagues are fans of the Boro. Maybe this has something to do with the fact I do see the boro as rivals.

What are your thoughts?

Well personally I feel that rivalry is good in a way.
I'm a Newcastle fan yet my brother supports Sunderland!
I have no problem with this, except it always gives you a good feeling when you beat your rivals!
There isin't as much rivalry between Newcastle and Middlesbrough as there is between SAFC and NUFC.
However, yet again, they don't want to lose to their neighbours!

Do Man Utd fans care about Bolton?

The bold part is very very true, but i think you have hit the nail in the head with that whole post there .

FF9 the point I was making is that sunderland do seem to care about middlesbrough, even though they say they don't.
