Bury v Grimsby Town

Gigg Lane, Saturday 15 November, 1500 GMT.

As Bury fight to see their first home league win since mid-September, Grimsby Town still look to end their dismal run of 22 league matches without a victory at Gigg Lane on Saturday.

The Shakers have won only 2 of their last 8 games, losing the other 6, and after getting knocked out of the FA Cup and JPT in quick succession last week, they'll be looking to pick up on form and grab a win against a very much vulnerable Grimsby Town.

The Mariners have not won a league match since their 2-1 win at Mansfield last March, which afterwards saw them lost their last 8 games of the season - including their JPT Final trip to Wembley Stadium. They are still yet to record a league win since Danny Boshell's strike secured all 3 points at Field Mill last season, and the midfielder still cannot believe he remains the last winning league goalscorer for the side. The 27-year-old said: "I couldn't have even contemplated that goal at Mansfield would be the last winner we would get in the league for almost eight months. At the time we were pushing a possible outside shot at the play-offs and were a week away from a Wembley trip. You could never have envisaged what would happen and 22 games on we haven't won since. It's weird it's been that long. Maybe somewhere in there we have forgotten how to win."

Mike Newell has brought in 3 loan signings of his own - Jean-Paul Kalala, Robert Atkinson and Adam Proudlock - and along with Liam Trotter, who came on loan from Ipswich through Stuart Watkiss' caretaker-manager spell, they all look set to start for the strugglers. Keeper Phil Barnes could be deemed unfit to play after injuring his arm during last weeks FA Cup clash with Morecambe. Second choice keeper Gary Montgomery is the only name on the squad list not to have played a league match under Newell, and could possibly have the chance to prove himself on Saturday, and hopefully help the Mariners to their first league win.

We need that win ASAP but I'm going for a 1-1 draw. Bury look off-form at the moment, and hopefully we can take advantage of that.

Adam Proudlock looked very promising last Saturday, hitting a 30-yard volley just over and also striking the woodwork a few times. I'm hoping Montgomery gets his chance. He can easily match Barnes' ability, and considering Barnes looks off-form AND unfit, I can't see why he shouldn't get his chance.

Let's get past these with a point, and get that first win next Friday against Bournemouth. It's the must-win of all must-wins, and a Friday night at Blundell Park celebrating our first 3 points in 8 months is to die for!

Oh dear he is your best player at the moment, I can't believe you are 2-0 up away from home at half-time though

Am I right in guessing this will be your first win of the season IF you win?

Will be out first league win since mid-March. We've won twice in the cup but I couldn't care much about them .

I'm still concerned. We usually play terrible in the first half, and dominate the second. Either now we'll hold on for that first win or slip and lose a good 27-2.
