Grimsby Town are hoping to sign Frenchman Mickael Buscher on a permanent deal late today. Buscher will come in and sign a deal with Town until the end of the current season, the papers will then be forwarded to the FA for their approval. Because he was not under contract at another club on 31st August, it looks like the move should go ahead. Buscher, who has been on trial with the Mariners, has impressed Mike Newell and the Town boss is willing to take a gamble on the midfielder. Newell explains: "It looks like we can do the deal right now - not have to wait until January as we first thought. "He's got a little bit of potential. Obviously he hasn't played much of late, and we are hoping that he can possibly get match fit before Christmas. "He's left-sided, he's an athlete, he's got a good frame on him, he can play on the left side or up front, and I think he's got a goal in him aswell," he added. The Mariners are also hoping to use Wednesday's Reserves game against Bradford City to give a trial to French striker Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro. The former FC Brussels frontman is hoping to get the go ahead to play in two reserves games in a bid to earn himself a deal with the Mariners. The Mariners have applied for international clearance for the player to play tomorrow. Mike Newell explains the move: "He's played around forty games in the French league and he wants to play in this country. It's a trial really and that is all we are looking at it as."
